Carne Griffiths (British, Born 1973)
Carne Griffiths was born in Liverpool in 1973. He moved at a young age to New Zealand for a few years with his family and returned to the UK where he graduated from the Kent Institute of Art & Design in 1995. He established his own studio in 2010.
Griffiths worked as a gold wire embroidery designer for twelve years and his intricate designs were used in movies such as The Last King of Scotland, The Phantom of the Opera and Valkyrie.
He has worked with such famous names as the Queen's jewellers Aspreys and the photographer Rankin. One of his designs were included on the embroidered cover of the 80th Royal Variety Performance programme and clients included HRH Prince of Wales, The Sultan of Oman, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, Chanel and Burberry.
Griffiths now works primarily with calligraphy inks and liquids, such as alcohol and tea. His art has been shown worldwide, including the Royal Academy London and exhibitions in New York, LA, Hong Kong, Toronto, Munich and Amsterdam.
